Laurie Hamer
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Registered Yoga Teacher – 200

laurieLaurie’s passion for mindful presence stems from her experience as a mental health therapist where she first discovered its powerful impact on the human stress response. During her intensive yoga teacher training in Bali, Indonesia, the benefits of daily practice became unarguably clear, and she has sought to ground herself through yoga, even in small doses, every day since. This urge to embrace mindful movement lead her to Tofino, BC for training in SUP (stand up paddleboard) Yoga. Taking her fellow yogis on the water brought an entirely new dimension to her practice, a place where nature meets spirited play and presence. Laurie also offers trauma-informed classes to individuals with a history of psychological trauma as well as yoga for addiction recovery in residential settings. Her couples yoga classes are tailored to build trust and foster connection between partners, and are based on her professional training as a couples therapist. She teaches yoga to all ages and at all levels, beginning to advanced, in studio, schools, day homes, and workplaces, in the styles of vinyasa flow, hatha, restorative, yin, and yoga nidra.
